2013

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!!!!  I hope and pray your Christmas and New Year's celebrations were filled with love and laughter.  Ours definitely were as we traveled up the eastern seaboard to Connecticut and then New York to see old friends and celebrate the holidays in grand NYC style with our sweet Selah.  We left on December 19th and 10 days, 2000 + miles, and many stops later, made it back home before the New Year.  We had a ball... but we did promise ourselves to return to NYC when there aren't so many tourists there.  I know, I know.... some may consider us tourists...  but I sort of don't think so.  Growing up, my dad would take me into the city for dad and daughter trips.  When I lived in CT, I would take the train in regularly for various reasons.  NYC is a part of me.  I don't feel like a tourist there and I really wanted to share this amazing place with my family.  The only problem was, it was very hard to get around because it was just so packed.

We also got to spend some time in CT and I had the joy of introducing Henry to some of my dearest friends.  Unfortunately, we just didn't have enough time for him to meet everyone who is near and dear to my heart so he promises me that we'll be back up that way again soon.  I'm going to hold him to that.

Now, what about weight watchers while I was away?  To be honest, it was IMPOSSIBLE to track points and plan meals when going from place to place.  While in Connecticut, we stayed with a dear family whose son was a 4th grader of mine many moons ago.  Of course, our hostess is an amazing cook and so while there, we enjoyed her delicious creations.  While in NYC, we had real NY pizza, black and white cookies, and some dirty water dogs.  Later in the trip, we were up in the Newburgh/Poughkeepsie area and we saw old friends and our reunions often took place over a meal or some snacks.

What I tried to do was keep moderation in mind.  Plus, we had numerous workouts maneuvering Selah's stroller through the subways of NYC.  (She thought it was great.  Henry and I were sweating like pigs.)

When I stepped on the scale today, I was relieved to see that I hadn't gained any weight and I'm now back on the plan!  It's a new year and I'm going to continue to change the way I live!

Thank you to ALL of you who have encouraged me to keep blogging!  I know it's been a few weeks since my last entry, but now that life is settling back into something "normal" (what IS that, exactly???), I'll be back to blabbering and blogging about the thoughts, events, and feelings that all go along with changing one's way of living.

Here's my last thought for now.  If you really want to lose weight, push a 25 lb baby in a stroller through the streets and around the subways of NY.  You'll be ready for an Ironman competition in a matter of weeks.
