We also got to spend some time in CT and I had the joy of introducing Henry to some of my dearest friends. Unfortunately, we just didn't have enough time for him to meet everyone who is near and dear to my heart so he promises me that we'll be back up that way again soon. I'm going to hold him to that.
Now, what about weight watchers while I was away? To be honest, it was IMPOSSIBLE to track points and plan meals when going from place to place. While in Connecticut, we stayed with a dear family whose son was a 4th grader of mine many moons ago. Of course, our hostess is an amazing cook and so while there, we enjoyed her delicious creations. While in NYC, we had real NY pizza, black and white cookies, and some dirty water dogs. Later in the trip, we were up in the Newburgh/Poughkeepsie area and we saw old friends and our reunions often took place over a meal or some snacks.
What I tried to do was keep moderation in mind. Plus, we had numerous workouts maneuvering Selah's stroller through the subways of NYC. (She thought it was great. Henry and I were sweating like pigs.)
When I stepped on the scale today, I was relieved to see that I hadn't gained any weight and I'm now back on the plan! It's a new year and I'm going to continue to change the way I live!
Thank you to ALL of you who have encouraged me to keep blogging! I know it's been a few weeks since my last entry, but now that life is settling back into something "normal" (what IS that, exactly???), I'll be back to blabbering and blogging about the thoughts, events, and feelings that all go along with changing one's way of living.
Here's my last thought for now. If you really want to lose weight, push a 25 lb baby in a stroller through the streets and around the subways of NY. You'll be ready for an Ironman competition in a matter of weeks.
NYC is great bc you can eat your way through the city but bc you walk everywhere you don't gain weight. I was sure I was going to gain weight last year when we visited NYC. I felt like the food never even had time to digest before I was eating the next meal, but low and behold, we must have walked it off. I didn't gain anything, and Buster actually lost weight! And trust me, we ATE! Can't even imagine pushing a stroller around there! My personal trainer said the goal over the holidays is not necessarily to lose but rather to not gain. Great job!
